2014 08 August Wallpaper - Peggys Cove Nova Scotia Sunrise Lobst

Welcome to August!  We’ve got seven new HD desktop wallpapers for you in this coast to coast edition.  From the calm waters of Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia at dawn to the bustling night life of San Diego, CA from 300 feet, we’ve got you covered.  For our aviation fans, we’ve got one of our favorite photos of the ginormous C5-A Galaxy taking off from Pease Trade Port and on the flip side, a serene scene along picturesque Rangeley Lake in Norther Maine.   And lastly, our calendar post wouldn’t be complete without an image from the Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance – last month we showed you a very special Ford – this month we balanced things out with  a beautiful 1963 Corvette Z06 “Tanker” that dominated tracks across the country from 1963 through 1965.  If you’re looking for more automotive-themed desktop wallpaper, be sure to check out our Automotive section!

Calendar Time – July HD Desktop Wallpaper!

2014 07 July Wallpaper - Fourth of July Fireworks Portsmouth NH

And just like that we’re half way through 2014.  Can you believe it?  In Florida things are heating up and I’ve found myself longing for that winter weather again.  But you can’t tell that from our July HD wallpaper.  As with previous months, these images are formatted for HD 16×9 screens and make great wallpaper for your computer, tablet or TV.  This month we’ve got some bright and sunny shots from all over the eastern seaboard, from Maine to Florida – and as it is July, I’ve included one of my favorite 4th of July shots from Portsmouth, NH. And lastly, our calendar post wouldn’t be complete without an image from the Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance – this month is a quite unique and surprisingly ‘un-Fordlike’ Ford – it’s Edsel Ford’s Restored 1934 Model 40 Special from the 2012 Concours.  If you’re looking for more automotive-themed desktop wallpaper, be sure to check out our Automotive section!

Calendar Time – June HD Desktop Wallpaper!

2014 06 June Wallpaper - Big City Sunrise Manchester Grand Hyatt

Yup.  It’s official.  June is, believe it or not, just around the corner.  And to prove it, we’ve uploaded our June fine art wallpaper just for you!   As with previous months, these images are formatted for HD 16×9 screens ans make great wallpaper for your computer, tablet or TV.  This month it seems the sun has played a major role in the photos – from Sunrise over the Atlantic (in the distance) in Jacksonville, FL to Sunset over the Pacific in Carlsbad, CA (Both were taken on the same day in case you were wondering)!  This month the photos hail from Florida, California, Georgia and Maine.  As tradition dictates, I also share one of our favorite images from a past Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance – this month is a very special Shelby creation, the 1962 Shelby Dragonsnake – a lightning-fast drag racing machine that also honeymooned in the movies (such as Viva Las Vegas – starring the one and only Elvis).  If you’re looking for more automotive-themed desktop wallpaper, be sure to check out our Automotive section!

Up North – Fine Art Shoots from North of Florida: Western Virginia

2013 12 Fine 04 Virginia Mountain Sunrise White Top

We recently had the pleasure of heading out on a few fine art excursions over the winter break.  Our trip began in western Virginia, near Bristol, TN – where I managed to get up in time for a gorgeous sunrise over the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I recently added a 1.4x teleconverter to our equipment, which allowed me to get up close and personal with both the moon and the blinding sun as it rose over the mountains.  By the time the sun crested the rise, it was far too bright to look at. My solution – I would aim slightly to the left, focus the camera, close my eyes, and then shift the camera right until I felt the sun on my eye.  It took a few tries, but I was able to get the shot I wanted without seeing spots for the next 6 hours…

These photos are all 1920 x 1080P HD wallpaper, designed to work perfectly with your widescreen display.  As always, please feel free to download – and if you enjoy our photos, please share this blog with your friends!

Fine Art Series – Travels North Part 10: Mountain Bound!

This selection of photos is from the Virginia portion of our trip.  As is usually the custom when we visit western Virginia – I’ll get up for a sunrise shoot, winding along the back country roads in search of the perfect spot to catch the sun as it peeks over the ridge.  Above is what I stumbled upon this time – just outside the community of Chilhowie, VA.

Time Lapse video of clouds sweeping along White Top Mountain – 3 second interval.

While I absolutely love the rocky coasts of New England and the rustic charm of Central PA, One of my favorite places on this globe has to be White Top Mountain.  Every time we’re in Virginia, I take a solo trip up the mountain – driving up the windy gravel road to the beuatiful summit of this rock.  White Top boasts the only natural highland meadow in all of the South and usually provides breathtaking vistas of the valley below and row upon row of mountains beyond.  A thick but swift moving cloud layer is what I found this year!  Here are a few of my favorite shots.   Enjoy – and of course, feel free to download as a desktop wallpaper!

Fine Art Series – Travels North Part 1: The Journey

We recently spent some time in the Northeast, photographing a variety of settings throughout New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Virginia,  Today’s edition features our journey North.  As the sun rose over New Jersey (and with 16 hours of driving delirium under my belt), we traded seats, and I took to photographing the metropolis as it woke from sleep.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.   Enjoy – and of course, feel free to download as a desktop wallpaper!

Tropical Storm Beryl – Part 2: The Morning After

Unless I am severely mistaken, we made it through the storm in one piece.  This morning, I took to the roads before sunrise to see what Beryl had left us.  All in all, it was better than I expected with lots of little debris in the road, but only a few trees down.  Tragically, a port-a-potty was not so lucky – having it’s roof ripped off sometime in the night…  But despite the relative tranquility, I still managed to take a few photos here and there.

Here are the rest of the photos – including a reminder that not everyone has Memorial Day off, and a little reptilian friend I found on my journeys this morning. And lest I forget – it is with a somber heart that we at Deremer Studios remember all those who have given that last full measure of devotion to protect what we hold dear.  You are not forgotten!  Enjoy!

Sunrise Photos at Dostie’s Latest Home

Earlier this week, we had the chance to spend a morning (a very early morning) with our friends at Dostie Homes, photographing their latest home off of Scott Road in Jacksonville, FL.   The home itself is a unique combination of modern design and top of the line amenities, with several throwback tributes from 1970’s homes.  The result is a great looking home that offers guests a welcoming, comfortable, almost familiar environment.

Deremer Studios specializes in Architectural photography – both residential and commercial.  Our specialized equipment, designed specifically for this sort of photography, enables us to creatively capture almost any space!  Check out some of our favorite shots from this shoot below.

Andres & Carla’s Romantic (And Hillarious) Engagement!

We have some pretty special news – our photographer, Andres, is now engaged to his sweetheart Carla!  Andres asked Carla to marry him over Thanksgiving weekend and she said yes! However, the special plans Andres had for the big question encountered a few hiccups along the way… Thankfully, Nate was there to document the adventure!

Above, you can see what appears to be Andres, Carla, his car, loose sand and the ocean – probably not the best combination.  Andres had a wonderful plan in place for this very special day.  Nate was to arrive at Huguenot Park in advance of the couple, well before dawn, to setup video and photography in a hidden location.  Soon after, the couple were going to arrive, drive out to where he was stationed, and Andres would sing her a song, read her some Scripture, and as the sun was rising, get down on one knee and ask for her hand in marriage.  What happened instead was much more amusing!

We awoke on the morning of the engagement to discover a line of intense storms bearing down on the First Coast.  At best, it looked like we would have 15 minutes between sunrise and torrential rain.   But, we persevered and when Nate arrived at the park, he drove all the way out to the ocean, only to discover the tide was unusually high – making the 1/4 mile drive out to the Jetties impossible. Nate texted Andres.

Unfortunately, Andres didn’t receive Nate’s text, and drove out to the ocean himself.  He soon discovered two things.  First, he was not going to be able to drive to the Jetties.  Second, his car was hopelessly stuck in some very loose sand.  At this point (and to Carla’s surprise) Nate just happened to appear around the corner and offered his assistance.  With Nate’s help, they were able to get the car out of one hole, but it quickly bogged down again – and as Andres and Nate tried to push the car out, all it did was sink further and further into the wet and spongy sand.

It was at about this time that the sun began peek over the horizon.  As you can see above, the car proved to be a wonderful vantage point for Carla – Andres on the other hand was up to his elbows in sand at the time.  With the rain and wind quickly picking up and with the tide now receding, the three ‘amigos’ decided it would be best to hop into Nate’s car and find a place to wait out the rain.  They landed at a great little restaurant near the ferry terminal on Heckshire – Nicole’s on the River.  The food was great, the portions were generous [and by generous I mean gigantic], and the prices can’t be beat.

So – long story made slightly shorter – they spent an hour at Nicole’s, the rain subsided, and they headed back to the stranded car.  With the tide now 40 feet out, the sand had hardened up nicely, and a kind surfer (and his 4×4) was able to pull the car free.  With the crisis averted, Andres and Carla were free to take a stroll, enjoy the ocean, and oh, yes, get engaged!  Congratulations you two!  Here’s to many years of love and joy!

Freebie! Nova Scotia: To and Fro (Part 3)

Well no journey would begin without travel, nor end without travel from our destination.  On this trip, we traveled via Delta Airlines and had the privilege [is privilege the right word?]  of visiting 5 separate airports, including extended visits to DC and Atlanta.  But the delays weren’t all bad – they allowed us to get some great aviation photos and make some new friends.  Enjoy!

Freebie! Nova Scotia Autumn Adventure Wallpaper (Part 2)

Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful autumn wonderland that is Nova Scotia.  Here is part two of our photo collection.  The above photo is of Hall’s Harbour, a tiny little inlet located on the Bay of Fundy.  The tides in this area are so large that the water level rises and falls 50 feet with every tide.  It’s really a pretty cool spot.

The fall colors truly couldn’t have been better.  When we arrived, the colors had just begun to pop, and by our third day there, it was absolutely stunning.  The weather was pleasant though a bit brisk (in the 60s), but in the sun it was quite comfortable.  And with all the photos on our blog, you are welcome to use them as desktop wallpaper – they are in widescreen format.  Enjoy the photos!

Freebie! Nova Scotia Autumn Adventure Wallpaper (Part 1)

Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful autumn wonderland that is Nova Scotia.  We spent three days exploring the southern half of the province – taking photos everywhere we went.  It had been ten years since our last visit, but not much had changed – one of the reasons we like this area so much.  From a sunrise shoot at Peggy’s Cove, to sunset at Hall’s Harbour, we  had a wonderful time capturing the beauty and diversity of Nova Scotia.  Enjoy the photos!

Our home base for this journey was the wonderful Bayview Pines Country Inn B&B.  If you’re ever in Mahone Bay, I would strongly suggest checking them out.  Not only do you get a comfortable room with a view, but a truly wonderful breakfast, complete with homemade preserves.  It’s truly a treat!

Freebie! HD Storm Wallpaper

The last week has proven rather stormy around the First Coast.  After checking out the radar last night, I decided to take a drive out to the ocean near Huguenot Park.  I took most of these photos along the way.  I did some traffic time exposures in and out of the car as well.  All images are 1920×1080 – perfect for HD desktop wallpaper!

(Please note, in-car photos were captured using a tripod and remote in a safety-conscious manner by a professional – don’t try this at home – or on the road… The same goes for standing outside near thunderstorms.)
