Lancome’s High Fashion in Amelia Island, FL

This past week, we had a pop-up opportunity to provide photography coverage for a Lancome Paris event hosted at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. We covered both evenings for the group of several hundred. The first night included a gigantic (inflatable) moon and a very special mini-show where they unveiled the never-before-seen Alber Elbaz line, due to be introduced to the public in several months (thus the blurry bits of the catwalk photos).

On the second evening, the group hosted a seriously stunning gala, complete with over 1,000 candles lining the gorgeously decorated tables. The evening had a split purpose – to honor many of the company’s top achievers and to wish a fond farewell to their outgoing president, Serge Jureidini. I think they succeeded in achieving both goals quite well! Below are some of our favorite shots from the event – enjoy!

The Perfect Landscape

Last week was a busy week for us, but thankfully, we had some great weather to do our first shoot with Scapes of North Florida. Featured in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, this wonderful company does a superb job creating some beautiful landscapes that show well, even in the winter. Check out some of our favorites below!

Special: Culinary Masterwork from The Stars Come Out in Amelia Island!

How’s that for a long and convoluted title? As you may have noticed from our previous post, this week we had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful Stars event at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Let me tell you – the depth and quality of the food was certainly worthy of the stars.

The Stars Come Out in Amelia Island!

This week, we had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful internal event for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, hosted at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. The event, built around the company’s premier agents from all over the world, was filled with all that we’ve come to expect from the resort – namely great ambiance, once-in-a-lifetime activities, and exceptional food!

As you can see from the slideshow below, the guests were treated to some wonderful activities – from two great culinary classes (below) hosted by the resort’s award-winning chefs, to an interactive visit to White Oak Conservation Center (above) – where guests had the opportunity to view a wide variety of protected and endangered species up close and personal.

Hills is Playing to Win in Ponte Vedra

This past week, we had the opportunity to shoot this wonderful event at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach. Our client was Hills brands – you may know them if your pets eats Science Diet, or one of their many other specialty pet foods. This event was quite the gala, with Red Carpet photos, great musicians, and an the amazing speed painter Tim Decker (above).

Another treat for the guests was a slideshow put together from the photos we had captured just minutes before. We achieved this feat with a bit of creativity, some great technology, and awesome help from the event staff from INNOVA. Below are some of our favorite shots from the evening – enjoy!

Itera Turns Twenty in Style!

Our last commercial shoot of 2012 was certainly a grand event! A few years ago, we had the pleasure of shooting Sergei & Kristina’s beautiful wedding at Epping Forest. So, when the company he works for, Itera, was planning a 20th anniversary gala, Sergei gave us a call and booked our services for this opulent evening. Hosted at the venerable Mussallem Galleries, Itera invited many long time friends and employees to celebrate the many achievements of the past two decades. It was certainly a memorable event filled with fine food, talented musicians and an ambiance like no other!

Amelia Island Clothed in Holiday Splendor

Just this week, we had the opportunity to photograph up in Amelia Island. This time, we were charged with photographing the quintessential holiday trappings that decorate the island this time of year. And so, we visited Amelia Island Plantation, some of the old Victorian homes in the historic district, and spent our dusk at the end of Center Street. For a guy that loves Christmas, this was a pretty sweet deal – made all the sweater because my wife and I shot this together, taking the TR6 (see Welcome back TR6), top down, to enjoy the warm December day!

Festive Memories with FAFP at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island!

Again this year we had the opportunity to spend the day with our friends at the Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP) annual Winter Summit and Gala at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. As with last year, the day was filled with great speakers, helpful resources and a program specifically for medical students. The evening turned festive as the group celebrated their inauguration of the 2013 board and dined and danced the night away to the sounds of a great band.

Dostie Homes Latest Masterpiece at Pablo Creek

Just last week, we had the opportunity to shoot another great piece of architecture for our friends at Dostie Homes in Pablo Creek Reserve. This is the second home we’ve shot in this great development (see Dramatic Dostie Home for our last shoot) This is the largest home we’ve photographed for the builder, with just under 5,000 square feet of climate controlled space. As with many of Dostie’s homes, this house sports a wonderfully flowing semi-open floor plan with great little details that all come together to create one great home.

If you’ve been in Jacksonville the past few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that overcast clouds have been the norm. So, you may be wondering where the very colorful sky in the top photo came from. We have an extensive collection of fine art photography, including quite a few ‘big sky’ photos that work perfectly to superimpose into overcast photos. With over 20 years of Graphic Design experience, we are able to seamlessly insert these backgrounds in a believable way. A Gingerbread Dream at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island!

Just last night we had the opportunity to spend a fun filled evening photographing the annual Anniversary Party up at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Unlike all the hustle and bustle of the year, this event is focused on honoring all the wonderful staff at the resort. As with all their events, the night was filled with great company, delicious food, and great decor. This event also offered several of the hotel’s top performers – all marked by an above and beyond commitment to guests. Congrats to all the winners!

Welcoming Warmth at the Amelia Island Holiday Cookie Tour

Though the weather changed little between my first and second shoots up in Amelia Island this weekend, what was poor weather for a farmers market proved the perfect weather for a holiday-themed cookie tour of the historic Bed and Breakfasts of Amelia Island. The cool weather and overcast skies made the warm and welcoming interiors of these beautiful homes all the more enjoyable. It certainly got me in the Christmas mood! On top of beautifully decorated homes, each B&B had its own signature cookie and a recipe card for each guest – and let me tell you, they were good!

This year’s tour encompassed a total of eight bed and breakfasts – many decked out for the holidays! Below is a list of each B&B with a link to their website, should one of the photos stir a desire to visit one of these beautiful homes.

Fun and Fancy at the Amelia Farmer’s Market

Last weekend, we again spent some time with the wonderful folks of Amelia Island. Our first shoot of the day was for the Amelia Farmer’s Market. To be honest, the weather wasn’t very ideal – it was cold and drizzly much of the morning – but that didn’t stop many of the die-hard vendors or shoppers from coming buy to shop for fresh produce, local delicacies and great gifts. The market has recently moved to the Amelia Island Plantation, where the ancient live oaks shade guests as they stroll along the winding lanes. As is often the case with small town events, everyone was super nice and it was so wonderful to see so many people catching up while they walked along the market, sipping their coffee and listening to the great live music.

Peta-what? Discovering a New Sport at the Petanque America Open

November seems to be Amelia Island month for Deremer Studios. We recently spent the afternoon in Dwotown Amelia Island, photographing the annual Petanque American Open. The sport, similar to bocce ball, revolves around two teams throwing hollow metals balls (boules) toward a small wooden ball (the piglet). A point is given for each ball that is closer to the piglet than the competitor’s closest ball. The first team to 13 points wins.

The event attracted teams from all over the United States and throughout the world – with teams traveling from Europe and even Madagascar to compete in this event. Below are some of our favorite shots from the day – enjoy!

A Presidential Night with BMI!

Tuesday was a busy day for us – but not due to the elections – at least not directly. Today’s earlier post (Making Dirt Float with Bastech) highlighted how we spent much of the midday on Tuesday, while this post highlights our evening photography. We had the opportunity to spend several hours with the good folks at the Book Manufacturers Institute (BMI) up at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. The night was filled with great company, delicious food, and great entertainment – not to mention a 46 inch TV broadcasting election results as they happened. The group was really a fun-loving bunch and we had a ball working with them!

Making Dirt Float with Bastech

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of providing photography coverage for the folks at Bastech, a Jacksonville business dating back more than 50 years that specializes in a variety of eco-friendly chemicals for industrial applications. One of the things I most love about this sort of photography is that I get to see and experience new things with every shoot. For example, with Bastech, I spent some time with one of the company’s chemists who walked me through a few of their offerings, showed me how to make rocks float, and how to de-fizz bubbly liquids.
