Dreambuilder’s Modern Take on the Classic Beach House

Late last week we had the pleasure of photographing another great residence from Dreambuilder Custom Homes. This gorgeous ocean-front home located in Jacksonville Beach combines many of the classic elements found on traditional coastal cottages with a modern floor plan and color pallet – resulting in a striking modern facade that has hints of both coastal and industrial influences. Not to be outdone by the exterior, when you step into the house you are eyes are carried upward into the three-story-tall foyer (below). As we photographed the home, we discovered all sorts of wonderful details and creative applications that help this interior to shine. Dreambuilder has really outdone itself this time!

A House to a Home – A Second Visit to One of Dreambuilder’s Jacksonville Beach Homes

This week we had the pleasure of spending an afternoon back at Dreambuilder Custom Homes‘ Avalon Two project. The last time we visited, back in August, the house had just been completed and the owners had yet to move in. So, as with many of our shoots, the photography was of an empty all-be-it beautifully designed house (view our favorite photos from that shoot here). But even with a stunning house like this, there in nothing quite like walking into a beautifully appointed home. That was certainly the case here – from the furniture and accessories to the artwork on the wall – everything really complimented the space.

Steve & Apryl’s Awesome Vintage Wedding!

Did someone say wedding? I thought so. This past weekend, we had the pleasure of shooting two weddings, including Steve and Apryls, featured here today. I’ve known Steve for the better part of a decade. We went to college together, go to church together, have the same group of friends from all those years back – so this wedding was especially fun for us. The wedding was held at Apryl’s home church in Keystone Heights, FL about an hour and a half out of Jacksonville (or 3 hours by boat, considering all the rain we had that week). Of special note, the couple chose a great vintage theme for their special day – with all the right accents – from hundreds of candles to rustic old window frames!

Meika and Jim’s Lovely Friendship Fountain Wedding!

Check out our latest wedding – the first of the new year! And wow, did we have some amazing weather for Meika and Jim’s outdoor wedding. The wedding was simple, intimate and yet elegant. Jim and Meika first met along the banks of the St Johns River at Friendship Fountain, so they thought why not get married where they first met.

Dan & Melanie’s Gorgeous Riverfront Wedding!

We’ve got another wedding for your viewing enjoyment! This is Dan and Melanie’s wedding from a few weeks back. They were married at a friends home, along the beautiful St Johns River in Greencove Springs. Despite a quick shower that rolled down the river, we had a wonderful time shooting this intimate gathering of family and friends. We even had the blessing of a rainbow! Tiffany & Bryan’s Fun and Fabulous Wedding!

We’ve almost caught up finally! This is a wedding we shot for Tiffany and Bryan a few weeks back. As you can see from the photo above, everyone had a great time – especially our newly-weds! Apart from the couple, notable bits were the very detailed groom’s cake, made to look like Everbank Field, and the really cool custom runner the couple picked out. Amy & Jedediah’s Vibrant Beach Wedding!

One step closer to catching up… This is a great wedding Bryn had the opportunity to shoot a few weeks back. Though we never managed to put two and two together, Bryn discovered when she got to the wedding that Amy was actually one of our daughter’s teachers in an Awana program at a local church. Small world!

The couple has a wonderful wedding right out on the beach with some stunning skies as the backdrop. Another great highlight of their wedding was all the creative little elements they used to make the wedding especially their own – like the surf-board guestbook and hand print ring shot! Photo of the Day: Up, Up, Up and Away!

Here’s the latest edition of our infamous photo of the day! This photo was taken a few years ago in Jacksonville, FL, overlooking the lagoon at Huguenot Park. As the sun set, it provided the perfect back lighting for this amazing columnar thunder cloud. Cap that off with the sliver of the moon, and the great colors, and I just couldn’t help but stop and take a few photos. Enjoy!

Going Classy-Country with Kelli & Michael’s Hilliard Wedding!

So, now you can see why we’re playing catch up – nonstop shoots! This post features a recent wedding we shot at the Hilliard Mansion – a truly wonderful wedding location which I would classify as Country Chic. Kelli and Michael hosted a pretty awesome evening – and we had great fun taking photos out by the train tracks as a few trains flew by. Disclaimer – no one was harmed, flattened, or plastered to the front of a speeding locomotive while shooting these photos…

Ada & Oswaldo Say “I Do” Once Again!

Well, this spring has proven to be one of those non-stop sort of seasons where you can never seem to catch up! Thankfully, I finally have a bit of time to share with you some of our recent shoots, including the time we spent with this wonderful couple. Oswaldo and Ada recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary and thought, what better way to mark this milestone than to renew their vows!

The Serenata Beach Club did a wonderful job hosting this intimate celebration and the beautiful weather combined with the stunningly vibrant waters made for a priceless evening! enjoy the sneak peek photos below!

Jen & Josh’s Rainy, Wonderful, Vibrant Oak Leaf Wedding!

We had some great fun photographing Jennifer & Josh’s wedding at Oak Leaf Plantation. The weather looked sketchy from the beginning, but with a bit of prayer and some quick work, we were able to enjoy the wedding and get all our posed photos in, literally 30 seconds before it began to rain buckets (be below photo).

Thankfully, the rest of the activities were scheduled for the beautiful second story of the clubhouse. We also had the pleasure of working with our friends at Jacksonville Videography and Dan’s Mobile DJ. I would highly recommend both companies for your wedding day needs. Photo of the Day: Look Out Below!!!

So, it seems this photo of the day thing is becoming more common…

Above is a photo I snapped while headed back from a commercial shoot is South Florida. Part of the shoot was out in the Everglades, so we decided to take Rt 27 North to Lake Okeechobee. On the way out from the lake, I saw this plane diving down toward the road at an alarming angle. Thankfully, I recognized the body style as a crop duster, so I didn’t have a heart attack, crash, burn and die.

Instead, I pulled over, and started snapping away as the plane did a circling pattern over our heads. Enjoy!
